The Tussey Mountain School District offers four Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study at its Junior/Senior High School. The four Programs of Study currently being offered are Construction Trades, Child Care and Support Services, Cabinetmaking and Millwork, and Administrative Assistant and Secretarial Science.
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 grant is utilized to fund a Career and Technical Education Aide to help students in the CTE programs.
Cabinetmaking and millwork offer students the opportunity to learn more about making cabinets and millwork while Construction Trades offer students the opportunity to learn more about the building trade. Students are able to attain the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification in both of these programs of study.
The Program of Study, Child Care and Support Services, gives students the opportunity to learn more about child care. Upon graduation, the students are eligible to test for a CDA (Child Development Associate) certification that will enable a student to work as a Child Care Worker or a Personal & Home Care Aide.
Students interested in secretarial and administrative assistant position would be able to learn more about those skills by participating in the Administrative Assistant and Secretarial Science Program of Study. Students are eligible to test and gain certification in Certiport Microsoft Word.
